Project 7 Project Proposal

Proposal #1
Brotherly Love:  A series of images that show the bond between brothers.  My two sons will be my subjects for this series.  I will show their day to day activities and interactions together.  This will include happy and sweet moments, moments of teaching/learning between them, times of exploration, and moments where brothers have disagreements and arguments.

Shot List:
  1. Relaxing on the couch together, snuggling
  2. Interaction on either side of glass
  3. Kids playing with shadows
  4. Big brother teaching his little brother T-ball
  5. Feeding eachother
  6. Playing soccer
  7. Riding the slide together
  8. Head butting eachother (anger)
  9. Bathtime
  10. Playing the piano
  11. Napping together
  12. Playing in the mirror together
  13. Painting and getting messy together

Proposal #2
Nail polish factory:  My dad owns a manufacturing company.  He packages a few different type of cosmetics but primarily focuses on nail polish.  It always seems to interest people who have never seen the process.  Even though machines are used, everything is operated continually by humans, so I would include at least their hands in the images to make the images more interesting. (test shots coming soon)

Shot List:
  1. Warehouse
  2. Bottles
  3. Barrels of polish
  4. Filling machine
  5. Brush addition
  6. Capping Machine
  7. Finished Product
  8. Packing Process
  9. Full Skids of polish

Favorite Henri Cartier-Bresson Photos

Bankers Trust Company, New York 1960
This image was taken at a bank in the 1960's.  It takes you back to a time before computers were used for everything in the day to day business in everyone's lives.  It's interesting to see the monstrous set up of all the files.  It is visually interesting that the files form a curved edge, rather than being in a squared filing cabinet like most people are used to seeing in the present day.  It is also interesting that all three of the women in the photo look very similar.  Same hair style, very similar clothing, yet in three very unique positions and heights.  The lines of the filing cabinet and on the stools provides the eye with a place to travel.  It's nice that there is somewhat repetitive pattern among the files while there is also a similarity with the figures on the right side of the frame.

Vaucluse, France 1956
This image was taken in 1956 in Vaucluse, France.  These people appear to be enjoying a beautiful experience.  They are sharing a meal near the water.  All you really see on the table is bread and bottles.  Be don't know if the bottles were filled with water or something else, perhaps alcohol but the people look very free and happy.  It makes me wonder the reason for the gathering because there are only about three men in this large group.  It is dominated by women.  It is visually pleasing that he filled the bottom half of the frame with the people and showed the surrounding environment with the remainder of the frame.
